The necklace is made of red brass, or tombac – a material containing 80 % of copper and 20 % of zinc, which was highly favored by the 19th-century jewel-making. The necklace has the form of a neckband and consists of mutually interlinked oblong links set with two horizontally arranged pairs of four Bohemian garnets. The item on display represents an exceptional Czech work and it can be dated to the mid-19th century.
