Michal Gabriel | Horses | 2006-2008 | Combined Art Technique | 170 cm | Sculpture | Contemporary art | price upon requestAdd to My CollectionAsk about this artifact |
The series of life-size horse sculptures is executed in a special material that the artist himself developed: laminate into which he, in a negative relief, set peanut shells; this results in a certain kind of a patter characteristic of subtle hollows. Gabriel employs animal objects in his oeuvre on a rather frequent basis, thus challenging the boundary between fine art and kitsch, while the latter is usually being linked with naturalistic copying Nature.
