Morning is probably the largest serial-produced porcelain sculpture by Jaroslav Ježek. The poetic title conceals a female rider on a horse whose conception follows up with the figures of horses which were exhibited at the Expo exhibition in Brussels. The horse itself moreover surpasses its predecessors by its expressive motion. The animal evokes a restless impression, as if it abruptly stopped or jaunced. The slim horse-rider, probably an acrobat, looks very stable even though she sits on the horseback in an opposite direction and with her legs on only one side. Her back is gracefully curved and she interlaces her hands above her head. The old sign Royal Dux suggests that the figure was produced in the Duchov porcelain factory during the 1960s. The Morning is exhibited at the presently running exhibition “The Brussels Dream”.
