The “Chair 05” was designed by Maarten Van Severen for Vitra in 2004. Its concept departs from the tube chair invented by Mart Stam in 1926. The chair is made of flexible steel tube and the bottom part is protected by rubber endings, suitable either for a carpet or a hard floor. The seating part with the backrest is of elastic polyurethane foam with smooth surface. Vitra produces the chair in several color variants. Also available is a stackable version.
