Under number .06, Maarten Van Severen introduced something in between a chair and a chaise longue; something that departs from the principle of the tube chair constructed by Marcel Bauer in 1926. The skeleton is of a stainless-steel tube. It slightly recoils when weighted by a seated person and it houses a seating part with a backrest, both made of polyurethane foam. In the area of the backrest, the tube continues in springs increasing its flexibility. The “.06” chair is also suitable for outdoors, while the pads protecting the bottom of the tube section are available either in the carpet or the hard-floor option. Vitra produces “.06” in several color variants.
