The two H 269 type chairs originate from the workshop of Jindřich Halabala. The today highly sought-for designer created them for the Brno Associated Arts and Crafts Enterprises (Spojené uměleckoprůmyslové závody, famed under the legendary abbreviation UP) in the first half of the 20th century. The designer here perfectly employed the technology of bent wood: the chair’s construction is formed of two shaped sides reminiscent of the Greek alphabetic character, Alpha. The hand supports thus impressively and elegantly continue in the legs of the chair. While for example in Scandinavia in the same period, designers Aalvar Alto and Bruno Mathsson bent plywood when creating their seating furniture, the Thonet and UP companies entered the market with this progressive wooden construction. The chairs have been completely restored and their new, modern look will certainly satisfy both design and antique lovers. The listed price / pair.
