Mysterious Distances, Symbolism in Bohemian Lands, from April 22nd – September 27th, 2015 is an exhibition devoted to fine art works produced in the Czech lands from 1880 – 1914 that were influenced by the Symbolism movement.
The title of the exhibition, derived from a volume of poems from the 1890s by Otakar Březina is intriguing indeed. This rich time period in the field of painting and drawing also saw the establishment of the National Theater – the first theater in Prague to feature Czech, not German, as the main language. Prague's National Gallery presents the exhibition Kokoschka and Prague at the Trade Fair Palace. The exhibition presents a select number of beautiful art works from Oskar Kokoschka, most of which were created by the artist in Czechoslovakia between the years of 1934–1938.
