The Fabrika bookcase was designed by Maxim Velčovský for the Woodcrafts Manufacturers – UP company in 2007. Velčovský sought inspiration in industrial architecture, namely the distinctive serrated forms of factory roofs facilitating lighting. The depth of the bookcase becomes conspicuously shallower from left to right and the top of the bookcase is sloped. This design gives a strong sense of spatiality, particularly when several pieces are grouped together. The bookcase is made of DTD, the surface treatment is finished either in walnut veneer or paint.
