Inspiration by nature, sometimes approximating the science fiction aesthetics, innovative work with materials as well as an emphasis on perfect details and craft: these are typical signs of the Vacek – Pošta duo’s work and their new brand ZORYA. Winners of the 2011 Czech Grand Design award introduce a premium collection of jewellery made of minimalist steel, romantic pearls and luxurious lustre of precious stones.

Both designers first came into the spotlight in 2009 when their collection Bye Bye Birdie won the Editors Award for the Best Installation at the Designblok show in Prague. Organic shapes reminiscent of spaceships, beetles and flower blossoms have become the basis of an extensive collection that includes more than fifty models.

A designer’s way of thinking, the feeling for materials and details, as well as considerable experience from abroad on the part of Daniel Pošta is a great addition to the creative potential and craftsmanship of Zdeněk Vacek. When looking at their products, it is very difficult to distinguish between the contributions of either artist to their common work. Their partnership has led to the creation of the brand ZORYA.

Every designer is searching for the ideal figure to design for. Such a figure is supposed to be strong, elegant and fragile at the same time. "We have found our ideal figure in Zorya, a Slavic goddess able to transform from the Evening star into the Morning star, from an old woman into a young lady and back again. She has no specific shape, age or colour of hair. But she has a divine personality, which is enhanced by our jewels," explains Zdeněk Vacek.

In Slavic mythology, Zorya is described as a guardian, a pure and noble heavenly bride. She is also the embodiment of the archetypal myth of a trinity goddess – the Zorya of Morning, Noon and Midnight represents a virgin, mother and old woman.
